The Centre for Religion and Public Life is hosting a research seminar with Professor Alana Vincent (University of Chester / Umeå University), who will speak about:
“Crisis and Ritual Creativity: Three Theses”
The British Ritual under COVID-19 [BRIC-19] Project was a mixed method study which aimed to document and analyse the various creative ways that religious communities adapted to the restrictions on public gathering imposed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. This talk will consider the results of BRIC-19 in comparison with other historical cases of ritual change in response to widespread social crisis, forwarding three general theses about modalities of religious creativity in crisis situations.

You are welcome to join the seminar in person, or online via MS Teams.
