Welcome to the new academic year and to Week 1 of our seminar series for the Centre for Religion and Public Life.

We got off to a cracking start with two seminars. The first, led by Rabbi Dr. Deborah Kahn-Harris, coincided with the Jewish festival of Sukkot and occasioned a visit to the University of Leeds campus sukkah.

Alan Benstock (CRPL member) at the campus sukkah.

The second seminar was led by Dr Jonathan Davis Smith. Jonathan completed his PhD at Leeds in 2019 and is now mostly based in Indonesia. Welcome back, Jonathan!

Prof. Emma Tomalin (CRPL member) and Dr. Jonathan Smith (CRPL speaker)

Welcome, too, to new members of the Centre, including our just-arrived MA and PhD candidates.

For more information about our seminar series, see the 'events' tab on this blog.

To get a fuller sense of our CRPL members, events, and other activities and research interests, explore the blog. Our latest post is about our October researcher of the month, Manoj Thekkepattath Parameswaran.

If you have announcements (e.g. about grants, publications, presentations...), updates, and news relevant to our Centre, let me know, so I can include these in our regular newsletter (the next one is scheduled for November). Please be in touch with me directly, Johanna Stiebert (CRPL Director): j.stiebert@leeds.ac.uk
